Mr. Shemwell graduated magna cum laude from San Diego State University with a B.A. in English in 2008. Mr. Shemwell graduated magna cum laude from California Western School of Law in 2011. During law school, he was an associate editor for the California Western Law Review and International Law Journal.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Shemwell interned as a law clerk at the Office of the United States Trustee and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Laura S. Taylor, Bankruptcy Judge for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California. Mr. Shemwell was admitted to the State Bar of California in December 2011 and is licensed to practice in all California state and federal district courts. Mr. Shemwell joined the Firm as an associate in December 2011. Mr. Shemwell had previously been employed by the Firm prior to and during his attendance in law school.

Mr. Shemwell has extensive litigation experience representing financial institutions in federal and state courts throughout California. Mr. Shemwell was recently successful in representing a respondent in the Court of Appeal (Second Appellate District) to obtain the affirmance of a six-figure money judgment resulting from an order granting summary judgment.

Mr. Shemwell volunteers at a local non-profit organization working in connection with the San Diego Food Bank, distributing food to underserved families in San Diego. In his spare time, Mr. Shemwell enjoys mountain and road cycling, playing music, golfing, and skiing.
